  • MaRINET2 – 4th Funding Call Announced

    MaRINET2, the Marine Renewables Infrastructure Network, today announced the launch of its forth call. MaRINET2 is a €10.5m project funded by the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 programme, and coordinated by the MaREI (Marine and Renewable Energy Ireland) Centre in Ireland. The project aims to accelerate the development of offshore renewable energy technologies by providing free-of-charge access to a network of 57 research facilities across Europe. SmartBay Marine and Renewable Energy Test Site, LIR National Ocean Test Facility and Queens University Testing Facilities are available for transnational access under this new call.   • Inauguration of the Lir National Ocean Test Facility

    On January 1, the Lir National Ocean Test Facility (Lir-NOTF) will progress to the operational phase of its life cycle with the completion of three years of commissioning works. To celebrate this important milestone, Lir-NOTF will be hosting an official inauguration event on January 18 2019. The keynote speech will be delivered by an Tánaiste Simon Coveney TD, with Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation Heather Humphreys TD, the President of UCC Patrick O'Shea, the Lord Mayor of Cork and the Mayor of County Cork all in attendance. Representatives from the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland, who part funded the development of the facility, and leading industry partners from the ocean energy sector will also be in attendance.

  • MaRINET2 opens 3rd call for free access to testing facilities

    The MaRINET2 project will open a call for applications on the 1st November 2018. Successful applicants will receive free access to a world-leading network of testing and research infrastructures. The call is open to offshore energy technology developers, including wind, wave and tidal energy at system and component level. Deadline for application is on the 15th December 2018.
